Mary Lou Décosterd is a consultant, educator and writer who began her career working with children, families and young adults. She has held leadership positions in a variety of settings such as special act schools, residential treatment facilities and colleges.
Mary Lou went on to teach graduate and undergraduate psychology and human services courses. From there she began consulting in the profit and non-profit sectors specializing in leadership and organizational development. In 2004 she founded The Lead Life Institute, an organization that helps executives and teams become their best. In July 2013, she was inducted by the National Association of Professional Women into their VIP Membership as Women of the Year.
Recognizing the special challenges and issues facing our young people today, Mary Lou wanted to develop an experience to support their development as well. She created the Magical Max book series as a way to help children become their best.
Mary Lou has lived and worked in the U.S. and abroad. She attended The University of Hartford, The University of Oklahoma, The College of New Rochelle and The Fielding Institute. She holds a B.A. in Psychology, Master’s degrees in Educational Psychology, Organizational Development and Clinical Psychology, post-master’s certification in School and Community Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Human Development. She has been recognized by “Who’s Who in Teaching” and “Outstanding Women of America.”
